Terriers drop Thursday match at Georgia Southern

Box Score STATESBORO, Ga. -- Host Georgia Southern scored in the final four minutes of regulation to rally for a 2-1 victory over Wofford in Southern Conference women’s soccer action Thursday afternoon at Eagle Field in Statesboro, Ga.

The Terriers kept the Lady Eagles off the board for nearly 60 minutes before Ashley Toussaint’s initial shot found the feet of Audrey Brown, who then gave Georgia Southern a 1-0 lead at 59:59.

Freshman Nikki Siebert tallied her first career goal for Wofford (6-9-2, 2-5-1 SoCon) to give the Terriers the equalizer with under 10 minutes to play in regulation at 81:49 when she dribbled inside the 18-yard box and shot to the lower right corner.

Toussaint then added a score of her own at 86:36 when she found the back of the net off a rebound from her initial shot giving Georgia Southern (3-11-2, 2-5-2 SoCon) the triumph.

She led all players with seven shots in the contest, while Siebert tied teammates Whitney Steelman and Kendra Merchant for the Wofford lead with two apiece.

The Terriers will return to action at 2 p.m. Sunday when they close their road slate at Appalachian State in Boone, N.C.
