GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Wofford women's soccer team surrendered a goal in each half to drop a neutral-site meeting to Coastal Carolina, 2-0, at the Select Kick-Off Classic in Greenville, S.C. The tournament was hosted by fellow Southern Conference member Furman.
The Chanticleers controlled much of the offensive attack during the game, outshooting the Terriers 19-4. Coastal Carolina's first goal came at 7:45 when Emily McColl fired a shot from 24 yards out past Wofford (0-3-1) goalkeeper
Katie McChesney. CCU mounted a 13-1 shot advantage during the opening 45 minutes.
The Terriers were more aggressive during the second half, tallying three attempts to six by Coastal Carolina (1-3). However, McColl netted her second tally at 68:48 on a 32-yard volley from Maegen Hellberg into the upper left corner.
Wofford received its four shots from

Nikki Siebert,
Meredith Calcina and
Maggie McLaughlin.
Sarah McPartlan paced the Chanticleers with five attempts, while Dana Gentile registered four.
The Terriers return to action when they open the home schedule at Snyder Field with a 7 p.m. Friday match against South Carolina State.
