Women's Soccer Falls to UNCA 0-1

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Wofford women’s soccer team fell to UNCA 0-1 in their second home game of the 2009 season on Thursday night at Snyder Field. The UNCA women scored one goal in the first half to pull away with the win.

The Bulldogs had control early in the game, but had a goal eight minutes into the game called back due to offsides. At 18:39, McKenna Stockhausen took a pass from Megan Bradham and put it in the top left corner of the net from 15 yards out to give UNCA a 1-0 lead.

With 15:00 left in the first half, Stockhausen had another apparent goal, however it was also called back for an offsides infraction. At the half, the Bulldogs had an 8-4 advantage on shots.

In the second half, Lauren Turnburke of UNCA took a shot from outside the box that Erika Christensen leaped up and pushed over the crossbar for the save. Wofford’s best chance of the night came with five minutes remaining when Cassie Rex took a shot from the left side of the box that was briefly loose in front of the net before being covered by the goalie.

Wofford will play away on Monday, September 6, at USC Upstate. It will be there second away game.
