“I kept thinking somehow, someway we would get a basket and we crushed them by two,” said head coach Mike Young. “That final score at the end of the day is all that matters. We set basketball back fifteen years with that offensive performance. As we continue t say, if you get after people and defend, contest shots and rebound, you will give yourselves a chance each time out. This team continues to do that. We are sputtering offensively and we think we know why. It is just a matter of ironing a few things out and they are trying like crazy.”
The Citadel opened the game with a three by Zach Urbanus and the Bulldogs opened up a 9-6 lead five minutes into the game. After a three by Harrison DuPont, The Citadel increased the advantage to 12-6. Wofford then used a 6-0 run that included a three by Jason Dawson to tied the game at twelve with 8:15 remaining in the half. The game was tied at 14, 16 and then 17.
