2011 Football Schedule
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College has announced the 2011 football schedule, which includes home games against SoCon foes Appalachian State, Georgia Southern, Samford and Elon, along with a road game against FBS opponent Clemson University.
The Terriers will open the season on the road at Presbyterian College on September 3. This will mark the 82nd meeting between the two teams in a series that began in 1914. The teams last met in 2008, a 38-21 win for the Terriers.
Wofford will remain on the road on September 10 at Clemson. The series with the Tigers dates to 1896 and the last meeting was in 2001. Tickets for the Clemson game will be available through the Wofford Ticket Office.
After an open date, the Terriers will begin the home slate with a conference game against Samford on September 24. The SoCon schedule continues on October 1 as Appalachian State visits Gibbs Stadium.
On October 8 the team will travel to Charleston to face The Citadel, which will be followed by a home contest against the University of Virginia’s College at Wise. The Cavaliers compete in the Mid-South Conference in NAIA.
October 22 the Terriers will visit Furman. For Homecoming, Wofford will host Elon on October 29. After a trip to Chattanooga on November 5, the Terriers will host Georgia Southern on November 12. Last season the Eagles and Terriers met in the NCAA FCS Playoffs, a contest that was won 23-20 by Georgia Southern. The regular season concludes with a trip to Western Carolina on November 19.
All dates and times are subject to change. A Southern Conference television schedule will be announced in early summer.
