Ashley Kirk Joins Women’s Soccer Coaching Staff

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College head women’s soccer coach Amy Kiah has announced that Ashley Kirk has joined her staff as an assistant coach.

A native of Macon, Georgia, Kirk played four seasons in the midfield at South Carolina and graduated in 2008 with a degree in physical education. She was the Gamecocks’ first four-time All-SEC player. For her career, she ranked fifth in all-time assists with 13, tenth all-time with 31 points and is the all-time leader at South Carolina in matches started with 81.

In 2004, Kirk earned SEC Freshman of the Year honors with a goal and four assists. As a sophomore she was the only player on the team to start all 18 matches and scored three goals with one assist. She was captain of the team as a junior and started all 22 matches with three goals. During her senior season, she served as captain and earned first team All-SEC honors.

Following graduation, she coached with the Georgia-South Carolina Bulls soccer club in Augusta, Georgia. In 2010, she played professional soccer in the Pepsi Deild League in Iceland. Prior to joining the Wofford staff, Kirk was coaching a club team in Warner Robins, Georgia. She has an advanced national diploma from the NSCAA.

In high school, Kirk played at Stratford Academy in Macon, Georgia and also played for the AFC Lightning Soccer Club. She was a two-time All-Sentinel selection.

The 2011 team will report to campus on Sunday, August 8. The first regular season game will be Friday, August 19 against East Tennessee State at Snyder Field.
