CLINTON, S.C. – The Wofford women’s soccer team continues its hot streak, defeating Presbyterian College by a 4-0 score Thursday evening.
Wofford (3-0) paced the entire match, leading the Blue Hose (0-3) in virtually every statistical category, including shots (19-9), shots on goal (10-3), and corner kicks (6-2).
Chelsea Ashworth scored the opening goal of the match in the 27th minute, putting a high shot from the outside box into the right corner of the net.
The Terriers extended the lead to 2-0 before halftime when Maggie O’Brien banked a shot of the post to go past Presbyterian keeper Sarah Beth Anderson in the 42nd minute of action.
Emily Bougas scored her third goal of season in the 54th minute, putting a shot past Anderson following a breakaway down the right side of the pitch.
The final goal of the contest was scored in the 71st minute of play when Mary Kathryn Macklen put a high, long shot just under the crossbar follwing a pass by Chelsea Turner.
Wofford goalkeeper Erika Christensen earned her second win of the season, picking up three saves. It was also Christensen’s second shutout of the season.
The Terriers will next be in action Sunday afternoon as they host UNC Asheville. The match is set for a 2:00 p.m. start time at Snyder Field.
