SPARTANBURG, SC – The Wofford women’s soccer team defeated Presbyterian by a score of 1-0 Thursday night at Snyder Field. Emily Bougas scored the game winning goal in the 47th minute on just her second shot of the game. Wofford improves to 2-1-0 on the season, while Presbyterian falls to 0-4-0.
Wofford dominated play throughout the first half, but were unable to create any good scoring chances. The Terriers recorded six shots in the half, but failed to test Blue Hose goalkeeper, Jordan Broadway, as she recorded two easy saves.
The Terriers resumed their control of the match in the second half. Bougas was able to strike quickly, taking just over a minute to give the Terriers a one goal lead. She worked her way into the open field and beat Broadway with a shot into the bottom right corner of the net. The goal was her first of the season.
Presbyterian worked hard to equalize in the second half, but the Terrier defense was too strong on their way to recording a shutout. Erika Christensen earned the victory to improve to 2-1 on the season. She also recorded her seventh career shutout. Broadway made four saves on 11 shots.
Wofford travels to Conway, S.C. to face the Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at CCU Soccer Field.
