Women’s Soccer Wins Second Straight Beating Gardner-Webb, 2-1

Box Score BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Senior defender Maggie Bosley scored the game-winning goal and her first of the season in the 62nd minute as the Wofford women's soccer team beat the Runnin' Bulldogs, 2-1 Sunday afternoon. The Terriers came back from a one goal deficit, scoring two goals in the second half to earn their second straight win of the season. With the win, Wofford improves to 2-2-1 on the season, while Gardner-Webb University falls to 1-3-1 overall.

In the first half, Gardner-Webb would take the lead 1-0 in the 33rd minute when forward Shelby Hoo scored her third goal of the season off a pass from forward Tara Woelfel. The Terriers would create the most pressure in the half, outshooting the Runnin' Bulldogs 14-3.

In the second half, all of the pressure would pay off early as junior midfielder Maureen Buff scored for Wofford in the 57th minute making the score all tied up at 1-1. The goal was unassisted as Buff struck a ball into the lower left side of the net. Five minutes later, Bosley would score the game-winning goal putting the Terrier up for good, 2-1. Freshman forward Faith Lifer found Bosley earning her first career assist.

For the match, the Wofford outshot Gardner-Webb 27-4, and won the corner battle 6-1.

Senior goalkeeper Kimberly Cohn earned her second win of the season as she faced four Gardner-Webb shots and made one save. For the Runnin' Bulldogs, junior goalkeeper Amy Schmitt fell to 1-3-1 on the season facing 27 Terrier shots and made nine saves.

The Terriers are back in action on Friday September 20th, when they travel Clinton, South Carolina to take on the Blue Hose of Presbyterian College at 7:00 pm. The team's next home match is on Friday September 27th, when they host Francis Marion University on Snyder Field at 7:00 pm.
