Final Results
MORGANTON, N.C. – The Wofford College women's golf team carded a final-round 32-over-par 320 and earned seventh place on Monday at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate, hosted by Appalachian State at the par-72, 6,010-yard Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club.
Conditions were much more favorable for scoring with temperatures reaching the upper 70s and winds fairly calm. Monday's final-round team-scoring average was a 327.9, playing nine strokes better than Sunday's 336.9.
The Terriers shot 10 strokes better than they did in Sunday's first round, finishing the tournament in the upper-half of the field at 74-over-par 650.
Junior Lauren Dunbar earned Wofford's best finish. Dunbar closed out the 36-hole tournament with a 7-over 79, finishing tied for 25th out of 78 players at 18-over 162.
Freshman Katy Funk and sophomore Maegan Higgins tied for 32nd place at 20-over 164. Funk had a much better outing, carding a 2-over 74 to mark Wofford's low round of the day and tying for the fourth-lowest round in the field. Higgins came in with a 12-over 84.
Freshman Allyson Markiewicz tied for 37th with a two-round total of 21-over 165. Senior Anne Marie Covar finished 48th at 25-over 169.
Junior Elizabeth Thompson competed as an individual and posted a solid 5-over 77 to finish the tournament in 43rd at 23-over 167.
Next up for the Wofford women's golf team is the 2014 Southern Conference Tournament Championship. The tournament is scheduled to take place Sunday, April 13, through Tuesday, April 15, at the North Course of the Moss Creek Golf Club.
