BLACKSBURG, Va. – The women's basketball team continued their recent woes on the road Wednesday night with a 73-42 loss to the Virginia Tech Hokies in Cassell Coliseum.

The Terriers (0-5) shot 28.6 percent from the floor and 21.1 percent on three point attempts, while allowing the Hokies (5-1) to shoot 37.7 percent from the floor.

The two teams at first struggled to score, going nearly the first three minutes of the contest without a point. Virginia Tech ended the first period with a 13-5 lead, but the Terriers nearly matched the Hokies shot for shot in the second period to keep the lead at single digits.

Wofford did take the momentum into halftime, as guard
Jordan Frazier drove the length of the court and hit a layup to beat the halftime buzzer and make the Hokies lead 28-19 at the half.

The nine-point deficit was the lowest the Terriers could cut into the Hokies lead though, as Virginia Tech outscored the Terriers 45-23 in the second half.

Frazier finished the game with 11 points on 3-7 shooting. She scored seven of her 11 in the fourth period, hitting both her three point attempts in the period. She also shot 3-4 from the free throw line.

Forward
Kentra Washington scored in double figures for the fourth consecutive game, finishing with 11 points to go with six rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Guard
Ashton Fleming had a team-high eight rebounds, while forward
Marissa Bayer recorded her first two collegiate blocks to lead the team.

Four Hokies scored in double figures, as forward Sidney Cook led the way with a game-high 14 points. Forward Taijah Campbell recorded a double-double, finishing with an even 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The loss extends Wofford's losing streak to eight games dating back to last season and is also the Terriers' sixth consecutive road loss. Wofford is now 0-3 all-time against Virginia Tech, and is 0-19 against the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The Terriers travel back home to Benjamin Johnson Arena for their next game Saturday, as Wofford faces the Jacksonville State Gamecocks at 2 p.m.
