Men's Tennis Competes in Belton

BELTON, S.C. – The Wofford men's tennis team opened up its fall season this past weekend, competing in the South Carolina College Championship in Belton, S.C.

Coach Rod Ray took nine players to compete in the event, which began Friday, Sept. 30 and concluded on Sunday afternoon.

Overall, Coach Ray was excited to get the season underway. "We had a fantastic experience in this event. It was great to get nine guys the opportunity to compete, with most playing nine or ten matches in three days. We needed to get in the trenches and battle with someone other than ourselves."

While at the event, the Terriers also were able to help out with the Belton youth clinic, lending their time and expertise in between matches. "I'm grateful that we were able to compete so much and have a chance to give back a little," Ray said.

Looking ahead, Ray is eager to build on an exciting first weekend of competition. "Our next event is two weeks away. We're hungry to get to work this week and improve."

Up next, Wofford will compete in the ITA Regional in Cary, N.C., which is a three day event that begins Friday, October 14, and concludes Sunday, October 16.
