BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Wofford College baseball team defeated Gardner-Webb 5-1 on a rainy Sunday at John Henry Moss Stadium to complete the weekend series victory. The Terriers scored twice in the first inning and the Runnin' Bulldogs cut the lead to one in the bottom of the sixth. Wofford added three runs in the top of the ninth to secure the win.

Wofford is 14-7 on the season, while Gardner-Webb is 18-5 overall. Rain fell from the middle of the fifth inning until the game ended. Wofford won two of the three games of the weekend series against Gardner-Webb to win the series. The Terriers were led by
Brett Hash with two hits and three RBIs, while Taylor Fisher had two hits and an RBI for the Runnin' Bulldogs.

Alec Paradowski led off the game with a walk and
Max McDougald followed with a single. A sacrifice bunt moved the runners into scoring position and a
Brett Hash single drove in Paradowski for a 1-0 lead.
Carson Waln added a sacrifice bunt to score McDougald to make it a 2-0 game. Gardner-Webb left one runner on base to end the first inning.

To begin the second inning,
Chandler Engel singled up the middle but the Terriers left one runner on base at the end of the top half. The Runnin' Bulldogs were retired in order in the bottom of the second and Wofford went in order in the top of the third. Gardner-Webb added a single, but a fielder's choice ended the third inning.

Carson Waln hit a double to left field to begin the fourth inning, but was stranded at third base. The Runnin' Bulldogs led off the bottom of the fourth with a single up the middle. The runner was caught stealing for the second out and a foul out to
Carson Waln ended the fourth inning. Wofford had one runner reach in the top of the fifth, but was caught stealing second base.

Rain began to fall heavily in the middle of the fifth inning. Gardner-Webb was retired in order to end the fifth inning.
McClain Bradley led off the top of the sixth inning with an infield single, however did not advance past second as the game reached the middle of the sixth. The Runnin' Bulldogs opened the bottom of the sixth with a single. After a ground out, a single to left field by Taylor Fisher drove in a run for a 2-1 game. An intentional walk and a walk loaded the bases for Gardner-Webb with two outs. With a full count, a fly ball to right field ended the sixth inning with three runners stranded.

In the top of the seventh inning,
Kody Ruedisili had a single with one out and stole second with two outs. Ruedisili moved to third on a wild pitch and a walk to
Alec Paradowski gave Wofford runners on the corners. Paradowski stole second and
Max McDougald was intentionally walked to load the bases. On a 3-2 count, a ground ball back to the pitcher sent the game to the seventh inning stretch.

A pair of ground outs and a strikeout ended the seventh inning for Gardner-Webb. With two outs in the top of the eighth,
Demetrius Jennings singled but failed to advance. Taylor Fisher had a hit with one out in the bottom of the eighth that dropped in shallow right field for a double. After a walk, a double steal put runners in scoring position. A strikeout and ground out ended the eighth inning with both runners stranded.

Kody Ruedisili hit a ball that went off the right fielder's glove for an error and Ruedisili reached third base to begin the ninth inning. With one out, a single through the right side by
Alec Paradowski scored Ruedisili for a 3-1 lead.
Trace Witt drew a pinch hit walk and a fielder's choice gave Wofford runners on the corners. A double to left center by
Brett Hash cleared the bases and Wofford took a 5-1 advantage at the middle of the ninth. Gardner-Webb had a strikeout, ground out and strikeout to end the game.

Wofford starting pitcher
Jacob Condra-Bogan (2-1) threw six innings and gave up one run on five hits with one strikeout.
Elliot Lance went one and a third innings with a strikeout and one hit allowed.
Will Stillman earned his sixth save of the season by going 1.2 innings and not allowing a hit with three strikeouts.

Bradley Hallman (2-1) started for the Runnin' Bulldogs and went 6.2 innings with two runs allowed on six hits. He walked four batters and had five strikeouts. Will Sellers threw the final 2.1 innings with three runs allowed on three hits, along with one strikeout. The game was the second of the day for Gardner-Webb, as they were defeated by Lafayette earlier on Sunday.

Wofford will host Lafayette on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. before the first Southern Conference series of the season at Mercer on Thursday night.
