BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Wofford College baseball team was shutout 6-0 by Samford at Joe Lee Griffin Field on a sunny and windy Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs had a 2-0 lead after three innings and added four runs in the eighth inning to earn the series win.
Wofford is 17-17 overall and 2-7 in the Southern Conference. Samford is 18-14 overall and 5-4 in league play. The Terriers had four hits on the day, while the Bulldogs had eleven. Samford was led by Heath Quinn with three hits and a pair of RBIs.
Derek Hirsch drew a walk in an eleven-pitch at-bat with one out in the top of the first and
Brett Hash walked with two outs. A ground out ended the Wofford half of the first inning. Samford had a one-out double followed by a single from Heath Quinn for a 1-0 lead. Both teams were retired in order in the second inning and Wofford went in order in the top of the third.
The Bulldogs led off the bottom of the third with a single and advanced the runner with a sacrifice bunt. With two outs, an RBI single by Heath Quinn made it a 2-0 game at the end of the third.
Carson Waln had a single with two outs in the top of the fourth inning, but was stranded at first. Samford added a double in the bottom of the fourth with two outs.
Wofford was retired in order in the top of the fifth inning and Samford led off the bottom half with a walk. A bunt single was followed by a double play, with a strikeout ending the fifth inning. The Terriers went down in order on three straight fly balls in the top of the sixth inning. The Bulldogs had a single through the left side to begin the bottom of the sixth. A walk with one out was followed by a pair of fly balls to end the sixth inning with two runners left on base. In the top of the seventh,
Dylan May singled up the middle with two outs. A fly ball sent the game to the seventh inning stretch.
Samford was retired in order in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out in the top of the eighth,
Ty Reginelli had a pinch hit double down the third base line.
Alec Paradowski singled through the left side for runners on the corners. On a bunt by
Derek Hirsch, the runner was out at home for the second out. A ground out ended the top of the eighth with two Terriers stranded.
In the bottom of the eighth, the Bulldogs had two runners on base with one out after a walk and single. An infield single loaded the bases and a fielding error on a ground ball allowed a run to score. With the bases still loaded, a wild pitch made it 4-0. A strikeout was followed by a passed ball for a 5-0 advantage and an infield single pushed the score to 6-0 before a fly ball ended the inning. Wofford was retired in order in the top of the ninth to end the game.

Jacob Condra-Bogan (3-3) went 5.1 innings with two runs allowed on seven hits and three strikeouts.
Jordan Accetta gave up two runs on two hits in two innings.
Elliot Lance faced one batter who singled and scored.
Spencer Kulman went a third of an inning with a strikeout and a run allowed.
Austin Higginbotham gave up one hit in a third of an inning.
Parker Curry (3-1) started for Samford and threw seven scoreless innings. He allowed two hits and struck out eleven batters. Wyatt Burns earned the save by allowing just two hits in the final two innings.
A midweek game at Winthrop completes the six-game road swing for Wofford before returning home to face The Citadel on Friday, April 15.
