SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's soccer team fell to UNC Asheville, 2-1, in their home opener on Wednesday night.
The Terriers fell behind 2-0 in the second half before
Katie Beuerlein trimmed the deficit to one with a final minute goal. Beuerlein's goal was her first of the season after scoring twice a year ago.
The Wofford defense held steady in the first half, thanks to two outstanding saves by goalkeeper
Alex Carroll (0-3-0). The Terriers also owned an advantage in corner kicks (2-1).
However, UNC Asheville broke the scoreless tie in the 70
th minute after Caroline Houser's corner kick made its way to the front of the net and was put away by Ellie Stone. Then, four minutes later the Bulldogs added another goal off a Houser corner that was put away by Stone.
The Terriers fought back, as Beuerlein's 90
