Women's Soccer Falls to North Florida

JACKSONVILLE, FLA – The Wofford women's soccer team fell to North Florida, 1-0, on Friday night in Jacksonville.

The Terriers loss snaps a two game winning streak, after they won their previous two games, against Presbyterian and USC Upstate at home.

The Ospreys' Alexis Berdeau  scored the lone goal of the game in the 56th minute, on a header that was assisted by Krista Colubiale and Gabrielle Liguori.

In the first half, Wofford keeper Mayson Liner did her part in keeping the game scoreless, notching three saves on eight UNF shot attempts.

After the Ospreys' goal early in the second half, the Terriers best chance to tie the game came on a shot from freshman defender Emily Macuga, but North Florida keeper Victoria Ekeli came up with the save.

Wofford forward Katie Beuerlein led the team with two shot attempts for the game. Overall, the Terriers were outshot by North Florida, 12-6, after attempting at least 17 shots in their previous two games.

Wofford did hold a significant advantage in corner kicks, earning six compared to UNF's one.

Individually, Liner continued her impressive work in goal, totaling five saves for the game. Over her last three starts, Liner has allowed just two goals and led the team to a 2-1 record.

Up next, the Terriers continue their Florida road trip, as they take on Stetson on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 1 p.m.
