Women's Basketball Falls at South Carolina

Box Score Columbia, S.C. – The Wofford women's basketball team fell 94-60 at South Carolina on Sunday afternoon. Wofford led the reigning National Champions at the end of the first quarter but the Gamecocks proved too much to handle for the Terriers. The loss moves Wofford to 1-2 on the young season.
 
The Terriers came out on fire in the first quarter going 9-19 from the field while shooting 2-2 from behind the three-point arc. Wofford also forced Carolina to commit seven turnovers in the first quarter as Wofford led after one quarter, 24-20. Wofford was led by Da'Ja Green in the first quarter with nine points and one assist.
 
South Carolina used a 23-8 run in the second quarter to regain the lead. The Gamecocks shot 9-15 from the field and 4-5 from three-point land while only turning the ball over once in the quarter. South Carolina used good defense to stretch the lead as they held Wofford to 3-16 from the field in the quarter while forcing four turnovers.
 
The Gamecocks came out in the second half and proved to be too long and fast for the Terriers outscoring Wofford 25-12 in the third quarter. The Gamecocks held Wofford to 3-15 shooting while forcing the Terriers to turn it over four times. South Carolina's offense was extremely efficient in the second half as well going 18-32 in the second half.
 
Despite the loss Wofford had three players reach double figure scoring in Da'Ja Green (21), Chloe Wanink (19) and Cairo Booker (11).
 
Wofford will return to the court on Tuesday, November 21 when the Terriers host N.C. Central on education day at 11 am.
