Wofford Athletics Announces Staff Promotions

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College Director of Athletics Richard Johnson announced promotions for several staff members on Monday. Mark Line is now Deputy Athletic Director, while Ryan Price is Assistant Athletic Director for Business and Finance.

Mark Line has been a leader on campus for over 30 years, first as the baseball coach and then as an administrator. He joined the athletic department administrative staff in July 2003 in the role of associate athletic director for internal operations and sports programs. He was promoted to senior associate athletic director in 2012. Among his myriad of duties, Line supervises the Olympic sports while also overseeing the department's budget and serving as liaison to the Carolina Panthers and several on-campus groups and committees.

A 1977 graduate of Erskine, Line posted a 210-158 record (.571) in 10 years as the Terriers baseball coach (1986-95). He was selected as a 2004 inductee into Wofford's Athletic Hall of Fame. Line has served as chairman of the physical education department since 1988. Following the 1995 season, Line accepted a role as associate dean of students in the Wofford student affairs office. He worked with volunteer services, Bonner Scholars, the campus judicial system and a host of other activities involving campus life.

"Mark Line has faithfully served Wofford in several different capacities over the past 32 years," said Johnson. "However, in his current role, he impacts the welfare of over 400 student-athletes and coaches. He has done so with great distinction and integrity. To put it into baseball terms, Mark is the consummate utility player. He can and has done everything and we wouldn't be where we are today without him."

After spending two seasons with the Wofford baseball team as an assistant coach, Ryan Price moved to administration on September 1, 2014 to assist in internal operations. In addition to assisting the Athletic Director with daily needs and special projects, Price is responsible for controlling all sport budgets, departmental invoices, and expense reports. He also works closely with the Elizabeth Rabb in compliance and Mark Line in monitoring game operations. Price joined the Terriers in October of 2012 as an assistant baseball coach.

A native of Binghamton, New York, Price received his bachelor's degree in sport management and mathematics from The College of Saint Rose in 2010 and added a master of business administration in 2011.

"Ryan Price has proven to be an adept and skilled administrator," said Johnson. "His work with our coaches and staff in budgeting and operations over the past three years has been a great help. We are excited to move him into this key position on our leadership team."
