Box Score Spartanburg, S.C. – The Wofford women's soccer team lost 3-2 at Presbyterian College on Sunday night at Martins Stadium. The Blue Hose got out to an early 2-0 lead in the first half and fended off the Terrier comeback in the last 15 minutes of play to secure the win.

The scoring began in the 7
th minute when Kristin Bane scored her first goal of the season. Kelsey Yeager delivered a corner kick that was deflected, Bane found the bouncing ball and finished it for the 1-0 lead. The Blue Hose struck again in the 14
th minute again from a corner kick when Kelsey Yeager scored her first goal of the season to increase the lead to two.
Although the Terriers totaled 10 shots in the first half, Presbyterian was able to make it to the half leading 2-0. In the 47
th minute
Hayley Younginer found the back of the net for her third goal of the season to cut the lead in half. Younginer intercepted a pass from goalie Alyssa Leaman and had a wide open goal to get the Terriers on the board. The Blue Hose responded immediately with a goal of their own in the 47
th minute when Frances Whiteside dribbled down the field and beat
Alex Carroll for the goal.

The Terriers answered back in the 78
th minute when
Hayley Younginer scored her second goal of the evening and fourth on the season. Younginer took a throw in from
Katie Beuerlein just outside the penalty area, beat two defenders and beat Alyssa Leaman to cut the lead to one. The Terriers continued to pepper the Blue Hose goal in the final 12 minutes of the game but could not find the game tying goal.

Despite the loss the Terriers totaled 23 total shots, 10 in the first half and 13 in the second. Wofford also outshot Presbyterian 23 to 14, holding the Blue Hose to just two shots in the second half.

The Terriers will be back in action on Friday, September 1 at 7 pm when they host Radford at Snyder Field.
