ORANGEBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's soccer team cruised to a dominant win on the road in non-conference action, beating South Carolina State on Wednesday night, 5-1, at O.C. Dawson Stadium. Four different Terriers scored in the match as the win moves Wofford to 5-11-1 overall on the season.

The first half was played steady as both teams played to a scoreless tie up until Wofford would break the silence late to take the 1-0 lead.
Hayley Younginer fired a shot into goal in the 39
th minute as
Savannah Vathy was credited with the assist on the play. The score would remain stagnant to finish out the first period, sending the game into the intermission with the Terriers leading 1-0.

Wofford came out the break eager to extend the lead, as the Terriers poured in four goals in the second half, with three scored over a six minute span.
Emma Fletcher would spark the scoring surge, finishing the Terriers second goal in the 48
th minute. Fletcher went on to net another goal in, sending a corner kick into frame to push the lead to 3-0 in the 78
th minute. The Wofford attack was diligent throughout the period, finding two more goals from
Shelby Pollock in the 80
th minute, assisted by
Rebeka Parent, and freshman
Lainee Bohannon in the 84
th minute to cap the Terriers scoring for the night. With the game at 5-0, South Carolina State managed to put themselves on the scoreboard in the 89
th minute, though, Wofford would undoubtedly claim the victory at the end of regulation.

Emma Fletcher added four points, with two goals, to her resume.
Shelby Pollock and
Lainee Bohannon both netted their first goals of the season, with Bohannon's being her first as a Terrier.

Savannah Vathy added her second assist, while
Rebeka Parent notched her first assist of the season.
