SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College baseball team rallied in the late innings for a 13-8 win over Siena on Sunday afternoon at Russell C. King Field. The Saints had an 8-2 lead in the middle of the seventh inning, but the Terriers responded with seven runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead and added four runs in the bottom of the eighth.

Wofford improves to 14-6 on the season, while Siena is 0-17 after the series sweep by the Terriers. Wofford was led by
Mack Nathanson with three hits and three RBIs, while
Colin Davis added three RBIs on two hits. Jonathan Crimmin hit a grand slam for the Saints and Matt Hamel had a three-run homer.

The Saints opened the game with a double and a sacrifice bunt moved the runner to third, but a pair of strikeouts ended the top half of the first inning.
Brett Rodriguez led off the Wofford half of the first with a single and a hit-and-run by
McClain Bradley put runners on the corners. An RBI single by
Mack Nathanson gave Wofford a 1-0 lead. After a sacrifice bunt advanced the runners, a sacrifice fly by
Andrew Orzel plated a run and the Terriers led 2-0 at the end of the first inning.

In the second inning, the Saints had two runners on base with one out after a walk and single before the Terriers turned a double play. Wofford was retired in order to end the second inning. The Saints left one runner in base in the top of the third and the Terriers were retired in order to close the third frame. Siena led off the fourth inning with a single and left one runner on base to end the top half. The Terriers went in order in the bottom of the fourth.

A walk led off the top of the fifth for Siena. With one out, a second walk was followed by an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1. Another walk loaded the bases and then a grand slam by Jonathan Crimmin to give the Saints a 5-2 advantage. Wofford had a single by
Colin Davis to lead off the bottom of the fifth and
Brett Rodriguez walked with two outs, but a fielder's choice ended the frame.

Siena was retired in order in the top of the sixth inning. With one out in the bottom of the sixth,
Cody Miller was hit by a pitch and
Andrew Orzel walked. A double play ended the inning for the Terriers. The Saints walked to begin the seventh inning and after a stolen base and a wild pitch, another walk with two outs had runners on the corners. A home run by Matt Hamel pushed the lead to 8-2 in the middle of the seventh.

With one out in the bottom of the seventh,
Alec Cargin and
Alex Malsch walked. A double down the third base line by
Brett Rodriguez scored both runners to cut the lead to 8-4. An RBI single through the right side by
Mack Nathanson and an RBI single to center field by
Cody Miller made it an 8-6 game.
Andrew Orzel added a double that plated a run and an RBI single by
Max McDougald tied the game at 8-8.
Colin Davis hit into a fielder's choice to score a run and Wofford had a 9-8 lead. Â

The Saints were retired in order in the top of the eighth inning.
Brett Rodriguez walked to lead off the bottom of the eighth for the Terriers. He stole second and moved to third on a throwing error. A triple by
Mack Nathanson drove in Rodriguez to make it a 10-8 score.
Cody Miller added a sacrifice fly to push Nathanson across the plate for an 11-8 lead. With two outs, back-to-back singles from
Andrew Orzel and
Max McDougald were followed by a double by
Colin Davis to make it a 13-8 advantage. The Saints went down in order in the top of the ninth to end the game.

Austin Higginbotham started for the Terriers and went 4.2 innings with four runs allowed on five hits. He struck out three and walked five batters.
Jake Hershman threw a third of an inning with one run allowed on two hits.
Ty Reginelli went 1.2 innings with two runs allowed on two walks.
Matt Ellmyer (3-0) earned the win by going the final 2.1 innings with one run allowed on one hit, along with two strikeouts.

Siena starting pitcher John Nolan threw 5.1 innings with two runs allowed on four hits, along with one strikeout. Ryan Bellomo went an inning with two runs allowed on three walks. Tom Sutera (0-2) gave up five runs on five hits. Matt Pierce worked an inning with two runs allowed on three hits and a strikeout. Danny Hobbs went two-thirds of an inning with two runs allowed on three hits.

Wofford will play Gardner-Webb in a home-and-home midweek series, beginning at King Field on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
