Women's Soccer Drops Road Contest at Radford

RADFORD, VA. - The Wofford women's soccer team lost their first road contest, 5-0, against Radford Thursday night at Patrick D. Cupp Memorial Stadium. The Highlanders found a lead early in the match and never looked back as the Terriers couldn't come back from the deficit. The Terriers drop to 0-2-1 on the season.

The Highlanders came out the gates firing as their scoring surge began early in the 15th minute of the first half. Radford's Jessica Wollman found the lower left corner of the net off a cross from teammate Nelia Perez. Just two minutes later, Radford managed to score another goal by capitalizing on a Wofford turnover. Another turnover would go on to haunt the Terriers as it set up a third goal for the Highlanders in the 43rd minute to cap the first half.

Wofford's lone shot on goal in the first half came from forward Catie Slater. The Highlanders outshot Wofford 8-3 in the first half.

The Terriers showed some fight in the second half but unfortunately couldn't slow down the Highlanders attack. Radford wasted no time scoring at the start of the second half, adding a fourth score in the 51st minute. Following the goal, Maria Mon was subbed in at goalkeeper for the Terriers. However, the Highlanders attack was more of the same as they found their final goal of the match just shortly after in the 56th minute. The Terriers played tough for the duration of the match, finding shots on goal from Catie Slater, Emma Fletcher, and Erin Wolfe, but ultimately couldn't overcome the scoring deficit.

Catie Slater led the Terriers with three shots while Emma Fletcher, Maggie Adcock, and Erin Wolfe all had one shot apiece. Despite the loss, Mayson Liner recorded five saves on the night while Maria Mon added two.

The Terriers return back home for their next match, hosting Akron on Sunday, August 26 at 2 pm at Snyder Field.
