Women's Soccer Blanks Alabama A&M 4-0

Three different Terriers scored in the match.

FLORENCE, Ala. - The Wofford women's soccer team found their first win of the season on Friday, defeating Alabama A&M. Wofford took total control of the match from the first few minutes of play and never looked back, cruising to a 4-0 win over the Bulldogs. Wofford moves to 1-3-1 overall on the season.

Wofford dominated the first half of play outshooting the Bulldogs 10-1. The Terriers scoring opened up right away in the third minute as Hayley Younginer found her first goal of the season off the helper from Eva Dailey. Alabama A&M's lone shot in the first half came in the ninth minute. The rest of the frame was all Wofford as the Terriers found several shots from Emma Fletcher, Catie Slater, Meghan Waninger, and Marta Izquierdo, including a penalty kick that was awarded to Younginer in the 39th minute. Despite the discrepancy in shots, Bulldogs keeper Jodi Medina managed to keep the Terriers lead to one goal, recording eight saves in the first 45 minutes of play.

The Terriers increased the score in the second half as Dani Segovia found the second goal of the match, her first on the day, in the 55th minute. Younginer added an assist to her performance, finding Katie Gilligan in the 71st minute for the third goal of the match. Dani Segovia would then go on to cap the scoring with her second goal of the day in the 85th minute, giving Wofford its fourth and final score of the match.

Dani Segovia led the Terriers with two goals while Hayley Younger earned three points on the day with a goal and an assist. Katie Gilligan scored her first career goal and Eva Dailey also added an assist on the day. Wofford outshot Alabama A&M 18-6 for the contest.
