MASON, OH – The Wofford women's tennis team opened their fall season in Ohio over the weekend at the Western & Southern Collegiate Invite, co-hosted by Northern Kentucky University's men's and women's tennis teams. Wofford was one of nine teams competing in the women's division of the tournament while Lipscomb, Dayton, Xavier, Western Kentucky, Siena, Saint Francis, and host Northern Kentucky made up the rest of the teams. Wofford had one singles winner along with two runner-up finishes amongst the eight singles flights while also adding a pair of doubles winners in the doubles pods. The Terriers that competed over the weekend include

Jenna Vroman,
Annie Mayfield,
Lauren Joch,
Brittney Wilbur, and newcomers
Lilie Steryous,
Kay Kluska,
Liz Massie, and
Alexandra Hildell.
Cassidy Hicks represented Wofford in the first singles flight, winning the back draw of the first flight to finish 2-1 in her singles play. The newcomers for the Terriers had impressive outings on the weekend as
Lilie Steryous (third flight) and James Madison transfer
Kay Kluska (fourth flight) both earned two wins before losing 10-point match tiebreakers in the third set for both of their championship matches.
Liz Massie was placed in the fifth flight, finishing in fourth place, while
Alexandra Hildell won the sixth flight for Wofford, earning wins in all three of her matches.
Brittney Wilbur was also placed in the sixth flight, taking third place with a 2-1 record in her singles play.
Annie Mayfield concluded the singles matches for the Terriers, finishing in fourth place for the seventh flight.

Lilie Steryous both went 3-0 in their doubles matches on the weekend.
Overall, Wofford won 14 of 24 singles matches and 7 of 12 doubles matches on the weekend. The Terriers will continue their fall season on September 21-23 at the Queens Invite in Charlotte, North Carolina.
