SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Wofford College men's basketball student-athlete Storm Murphy has been named to the 2019-20 Academic All-District Men's Basketball Team. Selected by CoSIDA, the program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

Murphy, a junior point guard, has started 89 of 95 games played while at Wofford, including 27 this season. The Middleton, Wisconsin, native is currently tied for seventh place all-time at Wofford with 336 career assists, dishing out 89 so far this season. Each year, Murphy has seen his points per game total increase, averaging 12.1 this season while shooting 48.2 percent from the floor and 42.1 percent from 3-point range. As a freshman, Murphy was named to the 2017-18 Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll as well as the Southern Conference All-Freshman team. Last season, Murphy was recipient of the Southern Conference Pinnacle Award, presented to the player on a championship team with the highest grade point average. He is majoring in finance.

The Academic All-District team is selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Wofford is in the fourth district, which includes schools in Alabama, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Puerto Rico. Nominees must have at least a 3.30 grade point average. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in March.
