SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Head men's basketball coach
Jay McAuley announced the signing of two to Wofford's 2022 signing class on Wednesday, welcoming the additions of guards Josh Morissette and Jackson Paveletzke to the program.
Â
"Both, Josh and Jackson, will add a lot of skill and versatility at the guard positions," said McAuley of the signees. "Their ability to push in transition, score at all three levels, and read the game is something we targeted in this recruiting class."
Â
Morissette, a 6-foot-4 guard from Exeter, N.H., joins the Terriers upon starring at Phillips Exeter Academy, holding averages of 15 points, six rebounds and four assists, while shooting 42 percent from three in his sophomore season prior to a canceled junior season due to COVID-19. Prior to Phillips Exeter Academy, Morissette starred at Exeter High School, leading Exeter to a state championship in 2019 on averages of 16 points, five rebounds and four assists. Well-known among the AAU circuit, Morissette played with Middlessex Magic, a top-25 ranked program in the country that has produced numerous Division I and NBA prospects, averaging 15 points, including 40 percent from 3-point range, five rebounds and five assists.
Â
"We are excited about adding Josh to our team. The young man is a winner and connector in the locker room," added McAuley. "He comes from a family of athletes and coaches that have instilled championship intangibles. His presence will be felt immediately on campus and in the community."
Â
Paveletzke, a 6-foot-3 point guard from Appleton, Wisc., comes to the program after leading Kimberly High School to a state runner-up finish with 25-3 record in his junior season. Paveletzke averaged 19.2 points, on 58.3 percent shooting and 56.1 percent from three, 6.1 assists and 4.3 rebounds en route to garnering conference Player of the Year accolades, in addition to WBCA First Team All-State and AP Second Team All-State honors. Paveletzke enjoyed a solid sophomore season, leading Kimberly to the sectional finals with a 22-3 record prior to COVID-19 canceling the remainder of the season, as he received second team all-conference honors along with being an all-state honorable mention upon averages of 13.2 points and 4.2 assists. Paveletzke played on the Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) AAU circuit with Phenom University.
Â
"With the addition of Jackson to our program we are adding another smart, tough and competitive point guard from the Midwest," added McAuley of Paveletzke. "The Wofford community will quickly grow to love this young man's game and demeanor on and off the court. He has played in many high-level high school and AAU leagues that have prepared him for the Southern Conference."
