Terriers Edged by Catamounts

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Wofford's women's soccer team traveled to the mountains of Western Carolina for their final road game of the season, falling by a 3-1 score. Rachel Rasins collected her second goal of the season and Eva Dailey recorded her first assist.

With one game remaining in the season, the Terriers will look for a victory and some help around the league for a spot in the top four to compete in the playoffs.

Western Carolina had the first chance of the game right at the three minute mark with a shot that flew over the top of the net. Another shot was taken a couple minutes later, but went wide as the Catamounts put on early pressure. Western Carolina's pressure paid off as they scored a goal 10 minutes into the match. The Terriers countered with a strong attack, but two of their shots were blocked before Paige Miller sailed one over the net. The Catamounts made it 2-0 in the 36th minute after a cross from the left side and the header was sent into the bottom corner. Mia Bookhard had an opportunity right off the kickoff, but it was handled by the goalkeeper. She also found herself one on one in the final minute, but was once again foiled as Wofford trailed by two at the half.

Maggie Adcock tried to spark a fire for her team as she made a long run down the wing and sent a ball into the box, but it was handled by the Catamounts before any Terrier could put a boot to it. Mon was forced to keep the deficit at two as she was able to hold on to a shot taken from the top of the box. Wofford was able to cut the lead in half in the 62nd minute as Eva Dailey played a through ball to Rachel Rasins who cut onto her left foot and lofted it over the keeper for a 2-1 score. Rasins attempted to level the score moments later with a freekick from 25 yards out, but her shot went over the net. Despite the Terriers having most of the possession in the final 20 minutes, the Catamounts scored once again with five minutes to go to seal the game.

Wofford returns home to Snyder Field on Friday, April 2, and will play its final game of the season against crosstown rival, and top of the league, Furman.
