KENNESAW, Ga. – The Wofford College baseball team picked up a 5-4 win at Kennesaw State on Tuesday afternoon at Stillwell Baseball Stadium in the final non-conference game of the regular season. The Owls led 2-0 after three innings, but the Terriers tied the game in the fourth inning. Wofford plated one run each in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to build a 5-2 lead before the Owls scored twice in the eighth inning. Kennesaw State left two runners on base in the bottom of the ninth.
Wofford is 33-18 overall and Kennesaw State is 27-20 on the season. The Owls had 12 hits in the game, while the Terriers were held to just five hits.
Jack Renwick was 2-of-4 for Wofford and drove in two runs to lead the team.
John Dempsey added two RBIs.

- Holden Wilder made his first career start for Wofford and allowed one run on three hits in two innings. Luke Stephens gave up one run on three hits in a third of an inning. Owen Parliament worked two innings with one hit allowed. Matthew Marchal (2-2) went 1.1 innings with one hit allowed and three strikeouts. David Yourke had one strikeout in two-thirds of an inning. Clay Schwaner gave up two runs on two hits in 1.1 innings. Dalton Rhadans earned his seventh save of the season by not allowing a run on two hits and a strikeout in the ninth inning.
- Andrew Grogan started for Kennesaw State and gave up two runs on two hits in 3.2 innings. Anthony Rodriguez allowed one hit in 1.2 innings. Makenzie Stills (1-3) worked two-thirds of an inning with one run allowed. Nathan Holler gave up one run in an inning on the mound. Dylan High walked one batter and Kolby Johnson did not allow a hit in the ninth inning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wofford was retired in order in the top of the first inning. The Owls singled to lead off the bottom of the first but stranded the runner at second. The Terriers went in order in the top of the second inning.
- With two outs in the bottom of the second inning, Kennesaw State had back-to-back doubles to take a 1-0 lead. Wofford was retired in order in the top of the third inning. A solo home run with one out in the bottom of third gave the Owls a 2-0 advantage. With two outs, back-to-back singles and a walk loaded the bases. A fly ball ended the inning.
- The Terriers had two outs in the top of the fourth when Lawson Hill doubled. Jack Renwick had an RBI single and took a pair of bases on wild pitches. A single by John Dempsey scored Renwick and tied the game at 2-2.
- In the bottom of the fourth with one out, a single was followed by the Terriers turning a double play to end the inning.
- Wofford went in order in the top of the fifth and the Owls led off the bottom of the inning with a walk, but a double play and strikeout ended the inning.
- Colin Davis walked with one out in the top of the sixth inning and stole second base. With two outs, a single by Jack Renwick drove in Davis for a 3-2 lead. The Owls left one runner on base after a single in the bottom of the sixth.
- In the top of the seventh with one out, Zeb Roos walked and singles by Shane Lussier and Matty Brown loaded the bases. A sacrifice fly by Nolen Hester drove in Roos for a 4-2 score. Kennesaw State stranded two runners in the bottom of the seventh after walks.
- Lawson Hill walked to lead off the eighth inning. Jack Renwick reached on a fielder's choice and Hill moved to third on an error on the play. A sacrifice fly by John Dempsey made it a 5-2 lead for the Terriers.
- The Owls had two outs in the bottom of the eighth when a walk and hit by pitch were followed by an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-3. With runners on the corners, a double drove in one run and a play at home prevented the Owls from tying the game.
- A walk by Shane Lussier opened the ninth inning but he was stranded at third at the end of the top half. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, the Owls had back-to-back singles. A fielder's choice ended the game with the Terriers on top 5-4.
