SPARTANBURG, S.C. – At the 2021 Southern Conference Football Media Day on Monday, the league's head coaches selected an all-conference first and second team. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes as part of the balloting. The Terriers had four players recognized by the league's coaches, with two on the first team.
 
In addition, the conference's nine head coaches picked Wofford to finish eighth in the preseason poll 21 total points. This marked the lowest preseason selection for the Terriers since 1999. The Southern Conference Sports Media Association selected Wofford seventh with 108 points.
 
ETSU had a league-best 10 preseason all-conference selections, while Chattanooga and Samford had nine each. Furman and VMI each had six selections, Mercer had five, The Citadel and Wofford had four each and Western Carolina had one.
 
Leading the Terriers on the first team was defensive lineman Micheal Mason. Mason, a junior from Effingham, S.C., played in all five games last season with 24 total tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss. He was named first team All-Southern Conference by the coaches and media.
 
Three players were named on offense. Senior offensive lineman Zak Kurz earned first team honors. A native of West Chester, Ohio, last season he started all five games at left tackle and had 22 knockdown blocks. Second team honors went to offensive lineman Al Hogan and running back Nathan Walker. Hogan, a senior from Fayetteville, Georgia, started all five games last season at center and led the team with 40 knockdown blocks. Walker, a senior from Ridgeville, S.C., led the team last season with three rushing touchdowns on 45 carries with 219 yards. He earned second team All-America honors from Phil Steele and State Perform.
