Wofford Men's Golf Alum Andrew Novak '17 Earns PGA Tour Card

Novak becomes second all-time Wofford men's golfer to earn PGA Tour card

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford men's golf alum Andrew Novak '17 became the second golfer in Wofford program history to make it to the PGA Tour over the weekend, as Novak finished in the top 10, tied for eighth, on Sunday (Aug. 8) at the Korn Ferry Tour's Utah Championships in Farmington, Utah to cross the fail-safe points threshold and cement his first PGA Tour card.

The top 25 players of the Korn Ferry Tour earn a PGA Tour card, as Novak currently sits 15th on the leaderboard with four tournaments left in the 2020-21 Korn Ferry Tour season.

"This is something I've been working for since my days at Wofford," said Novak of the achievement. "I'm just so blessed to have made it to the pinnacle of my sport and to have achieved another goal of mine. It's really cool to be the second Wofford golfer to make it to the tour and I'm looking forward to representing the Terriers on tour. I hope to see some Wofford shirts out there next year at some of the tour stops!"

Novak joins William McGirt as the program's lone Terriers to make it on the tour.

Novak first joined the Korn Ferry Tour back in 2018, as he has competed in 38 tournaments this season, earning 10 top-10 finishes thus far, including winning the LECOM Suncoast Classic with a 23-under-par 265 back on Feb. 20. The Mount Pleasant, S.C. native went on a tear in April through the first week of May, opening with a third-place finish at the Emerald Coast Classic at Sandestin in Destin, Fla. on April 4 en route to rattling off five consecutive top-10 finishes at the MGM Resorts Championships at Paiute (T9), Veritex Bank Championship (T5), Huntsville Championship (T7) and Simmons Bank Open for the Snedeker Foundation (T7).

During his time at Wofford, Novak was a three-time All-Southern Conference selection and two-time NCAA regional individual qualifier, while also being named the 2017 Southern Conference Player of the Year with a 71.19 stroke average his senior season. Additionally, he was a two-time PING All-Region (East) Team selection, as he finished his career with a 72.23 stroke average through 128 rounds, an all-time round low of 65 (tied for second-best in program history) and 23 top-10 finishes.

Overall, Novak currently holds program records for most wins (four), most top-five finishes (15) and lowest tournament score (13-under-par 203) in Wofford men's golf history.
