SPARTANBURG S.C. Wofford men's basketball head coach Jay McAuley announced the signing of two members to the 2023 signing class, welcoming the additions of Jeremy Lorenz and Elijah Strong to the program.
"We are excited to add two talented student-athletes to our roster next year," McAuley said. "Early on in the recruiting process our staff did a great job of targeting Jeremy and Elijah and we are thrilled to welcome them and their families to Wofford."
Lorenz, a 6-foot-8 forward from Brillion, WI, joins the Terriers from Brillion High School, averaging 20 points and 11.5 rebounds a season ago while leading the team to a 26-3 record before falling in the state semifinals. Lorenz currently sits fourth in career points (1350), first in rebounds (766) and first in blocks (171) at Brillion. His junior campaign saw a unanimous All-Conference First team selection while also being named to the All-State First Team. His sophomore year saw a trip to the state finals while averaging 19 points, 10.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. Lorenz was named to the All-Conference First Team and an honorable mention for the All-State team.
"Jeremy is a versatile forward with tons of potential," McAuley said. "He can do so much on the court on both ends of the floor with his length, athleticism, toughness and decision making. Playing on the EYBL circuit the last few years has prepared him to have a great senior season and a successful career here at Wofford."
Strong, a 6-foot-8 forward/center from Charlotte, N.C., comes to the program after leading Myers Park High School to a 17-9 record last season, while averaging 17 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. He was named conference player of the year in both his junior and sophomore campaigns after averaging 19 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game sophomore year. His freshman year saw the team go 18-9 while dropping 7.3 points per game.
"Elijah is a winner. His high school and AAU programs are well respected and he brings size, skill and toughness to our program," McAuley said. "He has an infectious, outgoing personality that will quickly impact our locker room. His ability to score inside and out, along with his vision and instincts on the basketball court will make him a dangerous weapon on our roster for years to come."
