Kennesaw State Drops Women's Lacrosse at Home

Leah Hurley and Olivia Abé led with four points apiece

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Juniors Leah Hurley and Olivia Abé led the Terriers with a pair of four-point performances, though, Wofford fell to the visiting Kennesaw State Owls (3-3, 0-0 ASUN), 22-9, at Gibbs Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops Wofford to 1-3 overall on the season.
 
Hurley, a junior from Roswell, Georgia, tallied her second career hat trick on seven shots-on-goal, while also dishing her first assist of the season. Additionally, Hurley tallied three ground balls and draw controls apiece.
 
Abé finished with a season-high three assists and a goal, in addition to scooping two ground balls. The performance moves the junior to a team-high 12 points, including a team-best seven assists, on the season.
 
Senior Ally Furnari tallied a pair of goals, four ground balls and one draw control, while Emma Gentile, Emma Krasinski and freshman Mia McCarthy each added goals – with McCarthy's serving as her first as a Terrier. Gentile matched a career-high with a team-best eight draw controls, in addition to two ground balls, while McCarthy and Krasinski added three and two ground balls, respectively.  
 
Freshman Carley Irvin added four ground balls and two shots, as senior Abbi Pagano scooped up two ground balls. Freshman Mia MacLean and senior Emma Seif added two and one ground balls, respectively, as sophomore Avery Dew recorded her first career caused turnover.
 
Aislinn Washburn recorded six saves in goal, while Ella Smithers added four saves and three ground balls.
 
Kennesaw State held a 39-32 shot advantage for the match, racing out to a 7-1 lead in the first quarter prior to leading 13-5 at the half. The Terriers edged the Owls in the third quarter behind goals from McCarthy and Hurley to bring the margin to 14-6, though, an eight-goal outburst in the fourth frame put things out of reach.
 
Wofford is back in action at Gibbs Stadium on Wednesday, Mar. 9, hosting UMass Lowell for a 1 p.m. match to conclude a three-game home stand.
