SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's lacrosse team narrowly came up short in a tightly-contested Big South matchup with league-leading Campbell (9-4, 6-0 Big South), using stingy defense to outscore the Camels in the second half and come within two, though, it would be the closest the Terriers would come down the stretch to ultimately fall 14-12 at Gibbs Stadium. Six different Terriers scored on the afternoon, as Wofford drops to 3-10 overall and 1-5 in the Big South.

Junior
Olivia Abé paced the Terriers with a game-high five points, recording a pair of goals along with three helpers to total a team-high 18 assists on the season. Additionally, Abé paces the Terriers with a team-high 31 points (13 G, 18 A).

A trio of Terriers tallied three-point performances, including junior midfielder
Leah Hurley with two goals and an assist, senior
Elisabeth Ralph – who sits just one goal shy of 100 for her career – with a hat trick and senior
Shannon Wulff with a goal and two assists. Hurley tallied a game and career-high eight draw controls, marking the fourth occurrence this season a Terrier has matched the single-game record mark, while Ralph scooped two ground balls.

Ralph moves to a team-best 26 goals on the season, as her next will make her the first Terrier to record 100 goals in program history. Hurley ranks third on the squad with 16 goals.

Junior
Brenna Duley tallied two helpers, in addition to a ground ball, while
Carley Irvin and
Emma Krasinski net two goals apiece. Krasinski added four draw controls and three ground balls, while Irvin recorded a draw control and ground ball each.

The Terriers stifled Campbell defensively on the ride, as the Camels finished 19-for-26 (73.1%) to Wofford's 18-for-20 clear rate (90%) for the match. Campbell held a slight draw control edge for the match, 16-14, though, the Terriers matched the Camels at the draw circle over the final 30 minutes, 6-6.

Additionally, the Camels finished with a total of 18 turnovers, seeing the Terriers force eight throughout the match, to Wofford's 14.

Senior
Emma Seif led the defensive charge, setting a career-high of four caused turnovers – moving to a team-best 15 on the season - to pair with four ground balls.
Moira Carroll and
Abbi Pagano contributed with caused turnovers each, in addition to a Pagano ground ball, as freshman
Kirsten Flannigan scooped up two ground balls in the match.

Despite the loss,
Aislinn Washburn tallied seven saves inside the crease.

The Camels opened the match with the first two scores before Wulff dished to
Carley Irvin to break the silence for the Terriers' first goal, 2-1. The Camels answered on the ensuing possession prior to
Leah Hurley feeding Wulff for a nifty over-the-shoulder goal, followed by an
Elisabeth Ralph goal to knot the match at 3-3 with 43 seconds left in the first. The Camels' Sam Bischoff then rifled in back-to-back goals by the end of the first for a 5-3 differential.

Wofford capitalized on a Campbell green card to start the second quarter, seeing Abé dish to
Carley Irvin for a crucial man-up goal, 5-4, though, back-to-back Campbell goals pushed a three-goal cushion at 7-4 (11:13). Goals from Abé and Ralph ensued to come within one (7-6), though, the Camels responded finishing the half with a 3-0 run to hold a 10-6 edge heading into the intermission.

The third quarter was fairly quiet, seeing the Terriers increase their pressure on the ride in holding the Camels to just a 4-for-9 clear rate in the frame. Despite a pair of Campbell goals,
Emma Krasinski added a goal late within the final minute of the quarter to see the Camels hold a 12-7 lead heading into the fourth.

The fourth would be all Wofford, taking control of the momentum through the opening minutes to spark a 3-0 run that brought the match within two by the 12:14 mark, 12-10.
Olivia Abé ignited the run after finishing a spin-around shot from
Brenna Duley, followed by unassisted goals from Krasinski and Hurley to force a Camels timeout. The Camels added a score prior to
Elisabeth Ralph finishing her third score of the day (13-11), while Hurley answered a Camels score with a crucial man-up goal off the helper from Abé to keep the two-goal margin with 2:28 remaining, 14-12.

The Terriers had a chance to inch even closer in holding possession with just over a minute left, though, the Camels notched a critical turnover that allowed Campbell to gain possession and hold on for the duration of the clock to survive and stay unbeaten in league play with the final 14-12 score.

Wofford (3-10, 1-5 Big South) is back in action on Wednesday, Apr. 20, traveling to Farmville, Va., to face Longwood for a 3 p.m. Big South matchup. The Terriers are then back at Gibbs Stadium on Saturday, Apr. 23, for Senior Day against Winthrop at 1 p.m.
