SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College football team worked for just over two hours on an overcast and humid Saturday morning to wrap up the first four practices of training camp. The team will be off on Sunday and return on Monday for the first day in full pads.
"We have a long way to go but the attitude is right and the energy is right and those are good things," said head coach
Josh Conklin. "I think we are seeing some really good things from some of the veterans that have been in the program for a couple of years which is encouraging to see. The big thing that I see right now is the strength and physicality that seven months of preparation in the weight room has really helped us out. We will not go live on Monday in full pads but carrying the pads I hope will bring a different intensity level and it will be really competitive on both sides of the ball."
During the practice the team worked primarily on individual position drills, along with inside run and seven-on-seven. In the team segments, highlights included big runs by
Nathan Walker, tackles for loss by
C.J. Tillman and
Chuck Smith, and an interception by
Isaiah Wadsworth.
Atkins Roberts,
Bridger Jones and
Devery Cagle took reps on point after attempts. The session ended with a developmental period.
