ASHEVILLE, N.C. – On Saturday and Sunday, the Wofford women's tennis team competed at the Emily McNall Classic hosted by UNC Asheville at the Asheville Racquet Club. In addition to Wofford and UNC Asheville, Presbyterian College and UNC Wilmington also took part in the tournament.
On Saturday, the Terriers won six of eight doubles matched played.
Lily Woods and
Georgia Fischer (6-3),
Chloe Elliott and
Emma Sorensen (7-5), and
Catherine Blouin (6-2) defeated teams from Presbyterian College.
Emely Kahrs and
Breda Brennan (7-6) earned a win over UNC Asheville.
In doubles against UNC Wilmington,
Georgia Fischer and
Brianna Wilbur (6-4) and
Emely Kahrs and
Catherine Blouin (7-6) picked up wins. In singles competition against UNC Asheville,
Catherine Blouin (6-3, 6-4),
Emma Sorensen (6-4, 6-3) and
Emely Kahrs (6-3, 7-5) earned victories.
During Sunday's first round singles matches against UNC Wilmington, Wofford won six of the eight matches. Wins were earned by
Breda Brennan (6-1, 6-1),
Catherine Blouin (6-3, 6-0),
Emely Kahrs (6-3, 6-2),
Brianna Wilbur (7-6 (5), 6-0),
Chloe Elliott (6-3, 6-7 (3), 1-0 (8)) and
Emma Sorensen (6-3, 6-1).
In the second round of Sunday singles,
Chloe Elliott (3-6, 7-5, 13-11) and
Georgia Fischer (6-4, 6-4) had wins over Presbyterian College.
Emma Sorensen (6-3, 6-1) and
Catherine Blouin (6-2, 4-6, 10-5) earned victories over UNC Asheville. In doubles on Sunday against UNC Asheville,
Emely Kahrs and
Catherine Blouin had a 6-4 win.
Wofford will compete next at the ITA Regionals in Winston-Salem, N.C. from October 13-17.
