CLEMSON, S.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's indoor track and field teams took part in the Clemson Invite on Friday and Saturday. The Terriers had numerous top-20 performances in the highly competitive meet.
In Friday's events,
Netanya Linares was 19
th in qualifying for the 60-meter hurdles at 8.92. In the men's 60-meter hurdle qualifying,
Grant Witherspoon was 17
th at 8.54.
Mary Claire Ridgeway was 16
th in the mile at 5:18.36.
Madeline McNinch was 24
th in the preliminaries of the 60 meters, while
Nevius Fisher ran a 7.03 in the men's event preliminaries. In the 400 meters,
Dahlia Cutler was 15
th overall in 58.68. The Terriers had five compete in the men's 400 meters, with
Zion Bennett leading the group with a 51.05 to finish 13
th overall. In the field events,
Georgia McDevitt was 11
th in the long jump at 5.63 meters,
Netanya Linares was seventh in the pole vault at 3.30 meters and
Christopher Sheppard was 19
th in the long jump at 6.34 meters.
On Saturday,
Netanya Linares was 10
th in the high jump at 1.59 meters. In the women's 200 meters,
Madeline McNinch was 20
th at 25.46, while
Robert Hilsman was 16
th in the men's race at 22.58. In the men's 3,000 meters,
Carson Archie was 31
st overall in 8:50.13. To wrap up the running events, the men's 4x400 relay team of
Robert Hilsman,
Zion Bennett, Connor Murphy and
Grant Witherspoon was 11
th in 3:25.16.
Including Wofford, 17 schools competed in the meet this weekend, including several notable programs such as Clemson, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Georgia Tech and Florida State. The Clemson Invite was named the top NCAA meet of the weekend to watch by NCAA.com.
Up next for the Terriers will be the Brant Tolsma Invitational hosted by Liberty University on January 20 and 21.
