EDISTO BEACH, S.C. – The Wofford women's golf team wrapped up play Tuesday afternoon in the Edisto Island Invitational, hosted by the College of Charleston. The Terriers placed in 13
th with a score of 904 at The Plantation Course at Edisto, a par-70, 5,816-yard course.
Lilli Horn led the way for Wofford with a team-best 225.
The Terriers carded a 904 at 64-over par. After scoring 304 and 301 in the first two rounds, Wofford sat in 14
th after the first day of play. A final-round 295 helped the Terriers rebound and move up a spot into 13
th in the 16-team field. Wofford's 163 pars tied for fourth most in the event.
The host Cougars won the tournament at 6-over par with a score of 846. They staved off a final-day comeback attempt by Georgia Southern, who fell four strokes shy in second.
The top Terrier in the event was sophomore
Lilli Horn. She carded 75-77-73 en route to a 15-over 225, good for a tie for 45
th in the 93-player field.
Though unable to claim the team title, Georgia Southern's Louise Reau earned low medalist honors with a 5-under 205 performance. She beat out second place finisher, Bernadita Villalba of Rollins College, by three strokes.
Maggie Jackson was not far behind Horn, scoring 16-over at 226. She carded 75-77-74 to tie for 47
th. Jackson's 37 pars tied for third most in the field.
Regina Parra checked in with a tie for 53
rd, scoring 227. She shot 79 in round one but bounced back with a 74 in each of the final two rounds.
Bella Kent placed in a tie for 57
th with a score of 228. She also bounced back after an opening-round 79, scoring 73 and 76 in final two rounds.
Taylor Burch (86-77-74) rounds out the Wofford lineup in a tie for 83
rd with a score of 237.
Wofford will be back in action early next week when it hosts its annual Terrier Intercollegiate. The three-round, two-day tournament takes place on Monday, October 23, and Tuesday, October 24, at Carolina Country Club.
