SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College softball head coach Chelsea Butler has announced the signings of seven student-athletes to National Letters of Intent or letters of commitment during the early signing period. The class includes two pitchers and five position players that will be joining the team in the fall of 2024.
 
"We are thrilled to announce next year's class of future Terriers," said head coach Chelsea Butler. "This class turned out to be everything we needed and more, as they bring a mix of speed, power, high level pitching and competitiveness. Each of these seven young women have fiery spirits and are leaders on the field, in the classroom and in their communities. We can't wait to see the impact they make both on and off the field. The Terriers got better today!"

Lucy Cameron, from Mokena, Illinois, is a catcher at Lincoln-Way Central High School. A three-year starter, the team has won three straight conference championships and was second in the state her freshman year. As a sophomore she was named All-Conference and as a junior was named All-Conference and third team All-State.
Coach Butler: Lucy is an incredible defensive catcher and our pitchers are going to love throwing to her. She has a plus arm with great accuracy and she steals a ton of strikes for her pitchers. Lucy is fiery behind the plate and is always a tough out when she's in the box. I am so excited that Lucy chose to be a Terrier!
 
Maizie Gatlin is a middle infielder from Williamston, South Carolina. At Wren High School, she has earned five letters. After earning the team's Rookie of the Year honors in 2019, she was named All-Region in 2022 and 2023. During the 2023 season the team was first in the region and went undefeated in district play. She also played travel softball with SC Elite.
Coach Butler: The first time I saw Maizie play I knew I had to convince her that Wofford softball was the perfect fit. Luckily for us, it was. Maizie routinely makes plays in the middle infield that are anything but routine. She is always the dirtiest one on the field, she is high energy and is an incredible teammate. Watching Maizie grow and play over the next four years is going to be fun, I am thrilled she chose to be a Terrier!
 
Zoey Jones, a native of Clayton, North Carolina, is a right-handed pitcher Louisburg College. Last season she was the NJCAA Division II National Pitcher of the Year and had a 31-2 record leading the nation in wins. She threw 19 complete games and was second nationally with a 1.03 earned run average. She only gave up 25 earned runs in 170 innings pitched, tallying 170 strikeouts. While at Cleveland High School, she earned All-Conference and All-State honors.
Coach Butler: Zoey is the type of pitcher every coach wants on their team. She leads from the circle, is a great teammate and flat out works. The brighter the lights, the further Zoey puts her shoulders back and goes to work. She is gritty, intentional, and flat out competitive. Zoey is coming to us with two years of experience under great leadership at Louisburg College and it is going to be a lot of fun to see all that Zoey accomplishes in the circle during her time as a Terrier. I am thrilled she chose Wofford College as her home to finish out her college softball career.
 
Taylor McQueen is a catcher from Clayton, North Carolina. She currently is playing at Louisburg College, where last season she played in 68 games with a .437 batting average, 27 home runs and 97 RBIs. She earned first team All-Region and first team All-America honors as Louisburg advanced to the NJCAA World Series, where they finished fourth in the nation. At Cleveland High School, she was named All-Conference, Conference Player of the Year, and All-State.
Coach Butler: Taylor is a special athlete. She is a great defensive catcher and is a pure hitter. Taylor is someone that we will be able to rely on to fill several different roles. She is high energy all the time, a vocal leader and is a great teammate. Taylor is coming to us with two years of experience under great leadership at Louisburg College and it is going to be a lot of fun to see all that Taylor accomplishes during her time as a Terrier. I am thrilled she chose Wofford College as her home to finish out her college softball career.
 
Natalya Salo is a right-handed pitcher from Indian Trail, North Carolina. A varsity starter since her freshman year at Porter Ridge High School, she has been named All-Conference three times. During her junior season she had a 2.78 ERA with 104 strikeouts to earn Pitcher of the Year honors, along with a .455 batting average. As a sophomore, she posted a 2.63 ERA with 140 strikeouts.
Coach Butler: Tally is a pitching coach's dream! She's crafty, throws it hard, locates well, and she generates a ton of swing and misses. She is a natural leader in the circle. I knew right away that Tally was someone that I wanted on my team, and I am thrilled she chose to be a Terrier!
 
Rivers Sampson, a native of Monroe, Georgia, primarily played first base at Loganville High School. The team has won a pair of region championships and was state runner-up in 2022. She has been named All-Region and second team All-State. As a junior she had a .423 batting average with 44 hits and 32 RBIs. During her sophomore season posted a .358 batting average with 43 hits and 41 RBIs. She also played flag football and basketball at Loganville. Her sisters, Tyler and Haven, also played college softball.
Coach Butler: Rivers is a coach's daughter and has older sisters who played college softball at a high level. Not only is her softball IQ through the roof, but she plays for one of the top travel ball teams in the country. She's battle-tested, competitive and can play just about anywhere on the field at a high level. I am so excited that Rivers chose to be a Terrier!
 
Brianna Stanley, from Boiling Springs, South Carolina, has been named All-Region twice at Boiling Springs High School. She plays first base and pitches, posting a .564 batting average with 31 hits and six home runs during her junior season. She also plays travel softball with SC Elite. 
Coach Butler: Bri is a professional hitter. She has a ton of power and very few flaws in her swing. She is a tough out all the time and will undoubtedly be feared by opposing pitchers. Bri is a solid first baseman and brings a ton of energy every time she steps onto the field. She is a great teammate and someone that can be relied on all the time. Watching Bri play in Old Gold and Black over the next four years is going to be a lot of fun. I am so incredibly excited she chose to be a Terrier!
 
 
The eligibility of all student-athletes is contingent upon admission to Wofford College and compliance with all NCAA rules, including registration with the NCAA Eligibility Center.
