SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College men's tennis team had four student-athletes named to the 2023 Academic All-District® Men's Tennis Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
The four receiving the honors for Wofford were
Will Fullett,
Alex Horn,
Callum Rendle and
Robbie Young.
Fullett, a junior from Cumming, Georgia, played in all 21 matches this season for the Terriers. He has also been named to the Southern Conference Spring All-Academic Team and Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll, along with ITA Scholar-Athlete honors. A biology major, he has a 3.79 grade point average.
Horn, a junior from Lexington, Kentucky, played in all 21 matches this season and led the team with ten singles wins. An ITA Scholar-Athlete, he has also been named to the Southern Conference Spring All-Academic Team and Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll. A government and finance double major, he has a 3.86 grade point average.
Rendle, a senior from Berkshire, England, played in 16 matches this season and played in 59 career singles matches for the Terriers. He has also been named to the Southern Conference Spring All-Academic Team and Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll, along with ITA Scholar-Athlete honors. A finance major, he has a 3.86 grade point average.
Young, a sophomore from Greenville, South Carolina, played in all 21 matches this season and led the team with nine doubles wins. He received the 2023 Southern Conference Sportsmanship Award and was named to the 2022 SoCon All-Freshman Team. He has a grade point average of 3.90.
Wofford led the Southern Conference with four honorees, while East Tennessee State (2), Mercer (2), Chattanooga (2) and Furman (1) also had student-athletes recognized.
Academic All-District nominees must have at least a 3.30 grade point average. All honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected at the end of May.
