Spartanburg, S.C. – Wofford's men's basketball unveiled their 2023-24 non-conference schedule Tuesday morning alongside the season's Southern Conference slate and is highlighted by a matchup against former Wofford Head Coach, and winningest coach in program history, Mike Young's Virginia Tech Hokies on Sunday, Nov. 19.
The Terriers will begin the season at home against Brevard College on Monday, Nov. 6 and High Point on Saturday, Nov. 11. Wofford dropped last season's matchup with the Panthers on the road but do not have a recorded home loss to High Point.
Following the short homestand the team will be away from Spartanburg for their next eight contests beginning on Tuesday, Nov. 14 when they travel to Knoxville to play the Tennessee Volunteers- who return six members of last year's sweet 16 squad before the matchup against Virginia Tech.
Wofford will then be spending their Thanksgiving competing in the Northern Classic in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, playing three games in three days. The Terriers will open the Classic against Canisius on Nov. 24 followed by Western Kentucky on Nov. 25. UNC Asheville on Nov. 26 will round out the Classic for Wofford.
The team will get a short breather before heading to Middle Tennessee State on Saturday, Dec. 2 and Wednesday, Dec. 6 at Gardner-Webb. The Terriers have won seven of the last eight against the Runnin' Bulldogs including a win in last season's Battle of the Carolinas here in Spartanburg. Coastal Carolina rounds out Wofford's road trip on Saturday, Dec. 9. However, it's only a quick pit stop at home on Sunday, Dec. 17 to play Kentucky Christian before hitting the road for the team's last power five opponent.
On Wednesday, Dec. 20 Wofford will take on Oklahoma State from Stillwater, Oklahoma. The Cowboys are led by Mike Boynton- who served as Wofford's Associate Head Coach during the 2007-08 season. Southern Wesleyan concludes the Terriers' non-conference slate on Friday, Dec. 29 in the schools' first matchup since the 1987-88 season- before Wofford had even made the transition to Division-II.
Southern Conference play begins on Wednesday, Jan. 3 at home against VMI and will host ETSU and Chattanooga before welcoming Furman to Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium on Saturday, Jan. 27.
February will see the Terriers playing host to Western Carolina, The Citadel, Mercer, UNCG and Samford while traveling to ETSU, Chattanooga, and Furman. Wofford will play a lone game in March at VMI to conclude Southern Conference play.
