SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced the results of its postseason awards today, voted on by the conference's head coaches.
Kahmare Holmes,
Nils Machowski, and
Cayden Vasko earned a spot on an all-conference team. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.
Kahmare Holmes, a sophomore guard from Charlotte, North Carolina, was named to the All-SoCon First Team. He is the first Terrier since B.J. Mack in 2022-23 to earn a spot on the first team. Holmes leads the team with 19.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game. He scored a career-high 36 points against the Samford Bulldogs on January 21, with 29 of those points coming in the second half. He has scored 20 or more points in 14 games.
Nils Machowski, a junior guard from Berlin, Germany, was named to the All-SoCon Second Team. Machowski has averaged 17.1 points, shooting a team high 37.8% from behind the arc. He has also pulled down 5.6 rebounds per game and holds the second-most assists (82) and blocks (16) on the team. The 6-3 guard was named the Lou Henson National Player of the Week after averaging 34 points over the first two conference games, including 37 points at The Citadel on January 3.
Cayden Vasko, a junior guard from Lowell, Indiana, found a spot on the All-SoCon third team. Vasko leads the team with 122 assists. His assist/turnover ratio has been in the top five nationally for the majority of the season, holding the number one spot for two weeks. The 6-6 guard averages 10.7 points, 4.5 rebounds per game, while snagging the second most steals on the team at 35.
The Terriers will be back in action on Saturday, March 7, as the team will play in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Tournament in Asheville, North Carolina. No. 2-seeded Wofford will face the winner of No. 7 UNC Greensboro and No. 10 VMI at 2:30 p.m., with the game available for streaming on ESPN+ or for listening on the Wofford Digital Network.
