SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced the 2024 football postseason awards on Tuesday, November 26. Selections include the coaches' All-Conference teams, specialty award winners, and the league's All-Freshman team.
Wofford had five players named to the All-Southern Conference second team, including defensive back
Amir Annoor, tight end
Jordan Davis, offensive lineman
Anthony Garcia, defensive lineman
Anthonie Lattany, and wide receiver
Kyle Watkins. The Terriers had four players named to the All-Freshman team: defensive back
C.J. Coombes, offensive lineman
Luke Moise, quarterback
Amari Odom, and defensive lineman
Marion Smokes.
Anoor, a senior from Nashville, Tenn., started all 12 games for Wofford and led the team with three interceptions on the season. The three interceptions were ranked sixth in the Southern Conference. He had 38 total tackles, along with one fumble recovery. For his career, he has five interceptions and 100 tackles.
Davis, a senior from Arlington, Texas, had 20 catches for 206 yards and a team-high three receiving touchdowns as he started all 12 games. The three receiving touchdowns ranked 13
th in the league. A preseason All-Southern Conference selection, he has 42 career receptions. Davis is the first Terrier tight end to be honored since Fenn Allen in 2007.
Garcia, a senior from Leavenworth, Kansas, started the first nine games of the season at center before an injury. He started 39 career games for the Terriers. This is his first All-Southern Conference recognition.
Lattany, a senior from Nahunta, Ga., started all 12 games on the defensive line for the Terriers. He was second on the team with 3.5 sacks and recorded 43 total tackles. He added one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and eight tackles for loss. His 3.5 sacks were ranked 15
th in the league standings. He played in 45 games for Wofford with 103 career tackles.
Watkins, a senior from Myrtle Beach, S.C., started all twelve games this season at wide receiver. He set a new single-season receiving record with 814 yards, while his 49 receptions are tied for the second-most in school history. He was second in the SoCon in receiving yards and sixth in receptions. Watkins is the first wide receiver to earn All-SoCon honors for the Terriers since Andy Strickland in 2008.
Coombes, a second-year freshman from Bellefonte, Del., started all 12 games in the Wofford secondary. He was second on the team in tackles with 88, which included five tackles for loss and one sack. He had one interception, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Among the SoCon leaders, he is eleventh in total tackles. He is a finalist for the Jerry Rice Award, presented to the freshman of the year in the FCS.
Moise, a freshman from Miami, Fla., started all twelve games at left guard on the season. He was part of an offensive line that allowed only 1.83 sacks per game, which was fourth in the SoCon.
Odom, a second-year freshman from Inglewood, Calif., started eight games at quarterback for the Terriers. He led the team in passing with 1,565 yards on 117-of-211 attempts. Among single-season leaders at Wofford, he is second in completions in a season, third in passing yards in a season, and second in passing attempts in a season. He threw for seven touchdowns.
Smokes, a freshman from DeLand, Fla, played in seven games with five starts on the defensive line. He had 25 total tackles and recorded 8.0 tackles for loss. He led the team in sacks with 4.0, which ranked 11
th in the Southern Conference.
The coaches, who could not vote for their own players or themselves, selected all-conference first and second teams and all-freshman teams on offense, defense and special teams. Due to a tie in the voting, there was one additional wide receiver on the first team and one additional offensive lineman and defensive back on the second team.
