SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford men's basketball team (4-5) saw a plethora of scoring in an 88-64 victory over the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs (4-5) on Wednesday night at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium. Five Terriers reached double figures in what was the seventh-straight victory over Gardner-Webb dating back to 2012.
"Our guys were committed to sharing the ball on the floor tonight," said head coach
Dwight Perry on the dominant win. "We did a great job of staying committed to the game plan by being aggressive but also by being very simple."
The Terriers were led by five double-digit scorers.
Jeremy Lorenz paced the team with 16 points while
Kyler Filewich added a season-high of 15 points.
Corey Tripp scored 14 along with another season-high from
Anthony Arrington, Jr. who added 11.
Luke Flynn rounded out the group with a career-high 10 points.
"We have a really good team with a lot of offensive weapons," said sophomore forward
Jeremy Lorenz. "There are a lot of willing passers on the team who are really good players. The opportunities were there, and we were able to take advantage of it."

"It was a huge thing coming in that we talked about," said
Kyler Filewich of the rebounding battle. "We knew going into the game that was something they were going to try to do, so we had to get after it more on the glass to limit their opportunities."
Gardner-Webb committed 17 turnovers on the night, which is the most forced by a Wofford team since 18 against Presbyterian in 2022. Seven steals were totaled during the game with
Corey Tripp swiping two.
"Our team did a great job of having multiple efforts on the defensive side of the ball," said Perry of the stifling defense. "We were flowing, and we were aggressive. We did a good job of playing without fouling."
Justin Bailey put the team on the board first with a catch-and-shoot three from
Jackson Sivills.
Dillon Bailey rattled in a free throw along with a
Corey Tripp layup to give Wofford a quick six-point lead. After GWU cut the deficit to just one, the Terriers fired off another eight points unanswered to give the team a 15-6 lead with 13:01 to play.
Gardner-Webb kept fighting as the team shortened the lead to just six points, but a strong first half from

Justin Bailey to give the team a 16-point advantage early on. Gardner-Webb fired off eight quick points to bring the game back to an eight-point lead with 17:18 left in the game.
The Terriers responded mightily, going on a monstrous 26-5 run over the next eight minutes of game time. The spurt gave Wofford its largest lead of the game – a 29-point lead with under 10 minutes remaining.
Wofford held tight for the rest of the night, not allowing Gardner-Webb to get within 20 points for the final 10 minutes. The Terriers would go on to win 88-74 for their second-straight win by 20 or more points.
After the two-game home stand, Wofford will travel across the border to North Carolina to take on Elon University at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday evening. This will be the first matchup with the Phoenix since a 63-59 win in 2014.
