Johnson City, TN- Wofford was unable to come up with the necessary offense late in the second half against ETSU in a 57-50 loss inside Freedom Hall.
The Terriers had an opportunity to tie the game with 50 seconds remaining, but junior
Jackson Sivills split a pair of free throws to cut the deficit to one. Still a one possession game on Wofford's ensuing offensive possession, junior
Corey Tripp's layup attempt was blocked by ETSU- which moved the lead to four courtesy of Karon Boyd and sealing the game for the Buccaneers.
Despite shooting a season low 35.4% from the field, Wofford found success on the defensive end to the tune of 13 steals- a program best since recording 20 steals against Mars Hill on November 23, 2018, (the best mark against a D-I team since swiping 13 balls against Mercer on March 3, 2018).
Leading the way for the Terriers in the steal department was
Corey Tripp- whose four steals are the most by any Terrier this season and just one shy of tying his career high, set on December 3, 2022, at Vanderbilt.
Jackson Sivills was one behind Tripp with three steals, which was still good for a new career best for the junior.
Sivills also led the Terriers in rebounding with five boards- the third time in the last four games the guard has collected at least five rebounds.
Wofford is back at home on Saturday, February 10, as the team takes on The Citadel. Tip off is slated for 7 PM on ESPN+.
