Mark Endler, a senior on the Wofford College men's tennis team, has been named the 2024 Carolina Regional recipient of the ITA Arthur Ashe Jr. Leadership and Sportsmanship Award.
The ITA Arthur Ashe Jr. Leadership and Sportsmanship Award recognizes outstanding student-athletes in all five divisions (NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and JUCO) at the regional and national level. This prestigious award, which dates back to 1982, is presented to the men's and women's national student-athletes who have exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership, as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements.
Endler, a native of Tenerife, Spain, had his collegiate playing career cut short in the fall of 2022 due to a health issue. Since then, he has been a constant presence at practice helping his teammates improve on a daily basis. As a freshman in the spring of 2022 he was named second team All-Southern Conference in doubles and earned a spot on the SoCon All-Freshman Team. A finance major, he has been named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll.
Other regional recipients include Alex Kiefer (Virginia), Baptiste Anselmo (Oklahoma), Ozan Baris (Michigan State), Nicholas Vroman (Air Force), Kyle Weekes (Binghamton), Henry Ruger (Columbia), Guillaume Dalmasso (Santa Clara), Demis Taramonlis (Middle Tennessee), Loris Pourroy (Florida State), Filip Planinsek (Alabama), Blake Kasday (San Diego), and Christopher Frantzen (Baylor). The national award winners will be announced Thursday, June 13.
