SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced today the over 800 member college and high school programs from across the country that have been awarded the 2023-24 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, which is presented by Sports Attack. The 2024 Southern Conference champion Wofford baseball team is among the recognized programs with a team GPA of 3.195.
 
Teams from every level of college and high school baseball were honored with this year's award, which highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2023-24 academic year. Nearly 350 high school programs and more than 470 collegiate programs were recognized with this year's award.
 
The ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award rounds out a year filled with numerous successes for the Terriers both on and off the field. Academically, 34 total Terriers earned Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll recognition. Highlighting those honorees were a quartet to see further recognition on the Spring Southern Conference All-Academic Team. Dixon Black, Lucas Manning, Marshall Toole and David Wiley all received the all-academic nod.
 
Black and Wiley were further honored on the CSC Academic All-District Team. To compound on Wiley's academic prowess, the rising senior was named the baseball recipient of the 2024 Southern Conference Pinnacle Award, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest GPA on each championship team. Wiley is a finance major with a 3.85 GPA.
 
These academic successes combined with a plethora of on-field accomplishments to mark one of the greatest overall seasons in Wofford baseball history. On top of his all-academic team selection, Toole was drafted in the 15^th round of the 2024 MLB Draft by the New York Yankees last week. Both Toole and Black were honored on the All-SoCon First Team.
 
Wofford was 42-20 in 2024, tying the program record for wins in a season. The Terriers were 12-8 in SoCon play and made a run through the SoCon Tournament in Greenville, South Carolina, to claim the 2024 championship and the program's second berth ever into the NCAA Tournament. In the Chapel Hill Regional, Wofford earned its first-ever NCAA Tournament win in its second game against LIU.
