Radford, Va. – The Wofford women's soccer team showed off a dominant defensive outing on the road in a 1-0 win against the Radford Highlanders on Sunday at Cupp Stadium. The Terriers handed Radford its first home loss since October 12, 2022.
Radford came out firing, as they registered the first shot of the match in the third minute, but freshman
Elizabeth Navola deterred the Highlander attempt on an impressive save.
Megan Childress responded with a shot on target just six minutes later but could not find the score. Navola continued her strong first half, racking up two more saves in the first 45 minutes to keep Radford scoreless.
The Terriers fed off Childress's aggressive playstyle, with

Kate Markey notched her second assist of the season on the score.
The Terriers would fire off four more shots in the next 26 minutes of action, including one on goal, but the team could not find the back of the net and would head into the half leading 1-0. Wofford finished the first half with seven shots, its second most of any game this season.
The second half saw a much more aggressive Radford squad, as the Highlanders sent off nine shots compared to six in the first half. The team kept constant pressure on the Terrier defense, but senior defender
Hailey Roth and the back line kept Radford in check all match.
Elizabeth Navola continued her spectacular afternoon, grabbing three more saves to secure the first clean sheet of her career and the Terriers' second shutout of the season.
Wofford saw several clean looks at the net in the second half, highlighted by a strike from
Kate Markey in the 59
th minute, but none translated to a score. The team would go on to defeat the Highlanders 1-0 – the first road victory over Radford since 1999.
Despite Radford taking 11 corner kicks compared to Wofford's one, the Highlanders were shutout for just the second time this season – the previous in a 5-0 loss to West Virginia. The Terriers registered 10 shots on the day with five on goal while Radford took 15 shots, six on goal.
The Terriers will take a trip across the Carolina border to Asheville, North Carolina, on Thursday for their third straight Big South matchup against UNC Asheville. Kick-off is set for 6:00 pm.
