LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Wofford College men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed on Friday and Saturday at the Brant Tolsma Invite hosted by Liberty University. Wofford had numerous top ten finishes and multiple personal records were set in the competitive meet.
On Friday,
Becca Hinds was eighth in the 5,000 meters with a personal best time of 18:29.72. In the lower finals of the women's pole vault,
Olivia Burroughs cleared 3.50 meters for a personal best to take second place for the women. For the men in the lower finals of the pole vault,
Joey Swick cleared 4.25 meters to finish second, with
Andrew Botros eighth at 3.80 meters as both had personal bests.
During the Saturday events,
Becca Hinds added a personal best in the mile at 5:24.30. In the finals of the 60-meter hurdles, JaKayla Campbell was fourth in 8.82.
Taylor Jennings-Ward was tenth in the preliminaries of the 400 meters in a personal best time of 57.67. Patrick Green was tenth in the men's triple jump at 13.54 meters and
Jake Ross was ninth in the high jump at 1.86 meters. The women's 4x400 relay team was sixth overall in 3:59.44.
The meet featured over 30 teams competing, including Campbell, The Citadel, Elon, Gardner-Webb, George Washington, Hampton, Liberty, Longwood, Queens, Radford, Richmond, UNCW, William & Mary, and Wofford.
In addition,
Sherika Christie and
Olivia Bagg competed on Friday, January 24, at the Orange and Purple Invitational hosted by Clemson. Christie set a personal-best in the pentathlon with 3,694 points. She was second overall, behind Miracle Ailes from Alabama.
After a weekend off, the Terriers will compete on Saturday, February 8, at the VMI Winter Classic.
