Christie Qualifies For NCAA East Regionals

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee has announced the participants for the 2025 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships preliminary competitions.

Sherika Christie qualified in the long jump, which will take place on Thursday, May 28, at 4:30 p.m. This is the seventh straight season that the Terriers have advanced at least one participant to the NCAA East Preliminary, which will be held this year in Jacksonville, Florida.

Christie, a sophomore from St. Catherine, Jamaica, set the school record in the long jump at 6.15 meters earlier this season at the Bryan Clay Multi Event. She took first place in the long jump at the 2025 Southern Conference Outdoor Championship at 6.07 meters. Christie was named the Most Outstanding Female Field Performer and the Most Outstanding Athlete at the conclusion of the meet.

Christie was also named the SoCon Indoor Most Outstanding Field Performer in 2024 and 2025. She won the indoor title in the triple jump in 2024 and 2025, along with the indoor long jump in 2025. She is ranked 39th in the region and is the sixth student-athlete from the women's team to qualify.

The first round competitions are scheduled for May 28-31. The University of North Florida will host the East First Round and Texas A&M will host the West First Round. The qualifiers out of these two regions will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 11-14 in Eugene, Oregon at Hayward Field.
