Wofford Baseball Receives ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced today the nearly 750 member collegiate and high school programs from across the country that have been awarded the 2024-25 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, which is presented by Sports Attack. The 2025 Wofford baseball team is among the honorees with a team GPA of 3.17 for the 2024-25 academic year.

Teams from every level of college and high school baseball were honored with this year's award, which highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2024-25 academic year. This year, 440 college programs and nearly 300 high school programs were recognized.

The ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award caps off a year with plenty of academic honors for the Terriers, including nine Wofford players who earned Southern Conference Spring All-Academic Team honors. Grant Comstock, John Gray, Adam Haber, Branton Little, Andrew Mannelly, Lucas Manning, Michael Sills, and David Wiley were all among the honorees. Additionally, 29 Terriers garnered SoCon Academic Honor Roll recognition.

Further compounding Wofford's academic honors, a trio of Terriers earned CSC Academic All-District Team recognition. Sills and Wiley added on to their all-academic team honors with Niko Brini joining them.

Alongside the academic success, the Terriers excelled on the diamond as well. With a 33-27 record, Wofford secured a seventh-straight 30-win season. The Terriers notched wins over two different ranked foes for the first time in program history, and more history was made on April 1 when Wofford defeated USC Upstate at Fifth Third Park in the first-ever game at the new ballpark in downtown Spartanburg. The third cycle in Wofford program history was achieved this season, which saw Carter Rasmussen get drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 14th round of the MLB Draft just last week after he was named Second-Team All-SoCon. Cullen Condon and Tanner Hardin both earned SoCon All-Freshman Team honors.
